Jackal of Trade LP 08′ - GenericMeds – lounge, deep, dub (For your review!)
You have to check this one out! This artist claims to have never had any musical background, which is yet hardly noticable for me. At first, I thought to be spammed by a guy called “GenericMeds”, but got a much better offer than erection pills and sex! I’ve got asked to listen to his music, which he calls “Movements” instead of tracks. Oh boy, do they move a lot of neurons in my brains!
Jackal of Trade LP is one of those albums which you can put on play and leave it playing, trusting it’ll relax you away to the next few spiritual zones available in your neighbourhood. The album counts 14 tracks, is very consistently created and very comparable in sounds with the better music from the Demo scene. It’s soul lies a bit between dubstep, dubs, lounge and IDM. It’s a big composition with chops, vocal oversampling and electronic music which could even move your grandpop! Mate, where do I get your vinyl or samples?
His similar opinion how music should (not) be have both scared and strenghtened me. GenericMeds is a living proof that art isn’t something which gets teached in school but which develops deep inside you! His rules of engagement, which you can read on his profile are strict but very understandable in his perspective as artist. Limits got no boundaries. “Create what the soul brings” is the motto which a lot of artists should be open about. You’re value isn’t what the (commercial) world demands but the unique ability you can bring towards the world. That’s the pure definition of an artist! We just need a push in the right direction, a bit of aid and influence but we’re all in the sense still .. free ..
I’ve noticed when reading his profile, we got the same favorite as starting obsession! Crockett’s Theme, from Miami Vice; is one of the most relaxing songs which never grew old! Yet, we’re from a different era! It’s influence is sure noticable in some songs where the synth has not left his body. I’m very eager to know which equipment this guy from Miami uses!
If you are done listening to Jackal of Trade, be sure to check out a few of his other productions and albums like “Immerse, Converse, Reverse LP 07″ and more on GenericMeds SoundCloud profile! They are all a gem to listen to!
